Huge change in Total URLs

Today I changed some vBSEO options using Briansol's Ultimate Guide to vBSEO. After that I ran the Sitemap Generator and this happened:

Sorry to bump this thread but I really would like to know if I did something wrong? I've lost 176,481 urls

It looks like you decided not to include showpost urls anymore.

Was that a wise decision? How would this impact my SEO?

It's an option, but one that I prefer personally. Showpost pages will only cover the same content that already exists on your thread pages.

But the bigger impact is that it will create thousands of extra pages that have to be crawled, and that also consume a share in your link value.

The more pages the better IF each page has new and unique content. In the case of showpost pages, I feel they just reduce crawling efficiency without getting you extra keyword coverage.

you removed 180k pages of bloat
now, those 8k pages that are important will hold more weight and get better indexed more frequently.

also, since you lost so many url's, be sure to delete all your xml/.gz files in the data folder and then re-generate. You don't want the old ones out there anymore.
