    Google won't verify?

I'm not sure why this is happening, but Google will not verify my site. I've uploaded an HTML file and it's there in the browser, but I get an error from Google of
    Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 in the header.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

I think the error is pretty much as it says.

Take a url that doesnt exist... for instance:-
vBulletin SEO Forums - Search Engine Optimization Plugin for vBulletin

There is no 404 error page and no 404 status, more redirect to your homepage.

Although, why on earth google see's this as an error, I have no idea. It really should not affect what google's requirement of the site is.

    vBSEO Development Team:-

Take a look at the link text above..... that URL does not exist and a redirect is in effect.... is that link text intended functionality? I would suggest you follow the redirect and obtain the page title from there instead.

You can just send the index, and it should pick up any/all sitemaps listed in the index eventually.
