Are Google web master tools playing up

Am I the only one having trouble with Google web master tools?
Some of my web sites are verified, some are not
The two errors I get when trying to verify them are

Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
Last attempt Oct 20, 2007: Our system has experienced a temporary problem

And on my forum home url

Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
Last attempt Oct 20, 2007: We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.

This has only happened to me since they have upgraded the web master tools

check if you have "File not found handler" option in vbseocp set to "Send 404 code".
