Google Advise - 1.7 Million URL submitted

Hello People,

I struggled all day, but got there in the end. Got a new version of VB, and got VBseo, and sitemaps working.

I ran the sitemap generator, and this is the result below. It generated 89 sitemap files containing 20000 url each. The numbers below are roughly double, as I am guessing I am submitting them as 302 redirect from the old URL, as well as the new URL, to clear out google.

My Forum does not have much in google, and has always been discovered by links from other sites.

It is realistic to expect google to take all this into it's index ???

Once I switch off the option to send the old and new urls in the sitemaps, the sitemap files will roughly half, will I have to delete them manually ??

I was a bit supprised when i did this to see I have sent google, 1.7 Million URLs - see how it goes over the coming weeks and months.

Just to add to the above.

I am unsure sending 1.7 million links to google inclduing the old and new URLs is the correct thing to do.

I have deleted my sitemaps while I seek advice on how to best set this up.

I have about 700,000 real threads and this was doubled in and lead to me haveing 89 site maps containing 20000 urls each.

1) yahoo limit is 50 site maps, shall I increase the amount of URLs in the site map or remove the old links from the sitemaps ?

2) I only have 20000 of the old links in google, is it worth me submitting the old and the new meaning I am submitting 700,000 old links to try and flush out and update 20,000 old links.

I think I should only submit the new links and just send the new ones.

I am concerned about dumping 1.7 million links to google, compared to others setup on this site, it seems a lot higher.

I need some advise, do I really need to send 700,000 302 redirects to google to update 20,000

Any Ideas, I am thinking of resubmitting the sitemaps minus the old urls

I agree with you. I would not submit the old URL format in your case.
