Exclamation Few Questions about google Webmasters page
Hi ,

i have few problem and questions :

1 - i submitted my sitemaps in google webmaster page . i got this error in one urllist.txt.gz sitemap file :

Quote:
Your Sitemap exceeds the maximum file size limit. Please create multiple Sitemaps containing fewer URLs to meet the file size limit.

2 - Also my forum is in /forum directory . shall i submit sitemaps under my domain.com or domain.com/forum in Google webmasters webpage ?

3 - i'm using sitemap generator for long time . my forum is big and have may posts and so active . i have just 28,100 links in google !! but in google webmaster webpage it shows :
Total URLs: 570956
Indexed URLs: 123320

Any help would be great

Hello,

1. you should only submit xml sitemap to Google.

2. sitemap URL would be: http://www.domain.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz

3. Search results number is inaccurate, I'd pay more attention to this number:

Indexed URLs: 123320
Although your goal is to track the number of visitors referred by search engines (using Google Analytics, for instance) rather than the number of pages indexed.

ok Great , thanks for answers .

The old problem is appearing now again . Google Shows error in all my sitemaps . i had this problem with old versions too . i deleted all of them and upgraded to newest version and then regenerate all the sitemaps to hope that these errors will be gone but still they are exist .

I attached an screenshot from my google webmaster page :


so here is the questions :
1- how can i resolve these problems in my sitemaps .
2- is it possible that these errors would be a reason to effect to my website google rank ?
3 - as you can see i have 50,000 links in the sitemap but just 4844 of them indexed . is it normal ? anyway to make it faster ?

Sitemap should be regenerated for that, since you have "replace post number with permalink" option enabled, showpost links should not be included in sitemap now.

I did . after that i upgraded to the newest version . i deleted all the sitemaps and regenerated them all . and then deleted all the old sitemaps that i have added in google webmaster page and then added the new ones ! still errors in all sitemaps .

Yes , all reported urls are like xxx-postX.html

and in sitemap_index.xml.gz it shows the sitemap xml that they have warning ( 1-2 and 3 )

No they are include into the sitemap .

You should disable them (if you have permalinks option enabled), remove sitemap files and recreate sitemap.

ok ...

Edit : I just did the exact thing that u said and now in report i can see -107,376 changes ! what links are missed in these new sitemaps ? Replies ? or just duplicate links with 2 different urls removed ?

p.s. i will post the result of google webmaster page later ...

If it was the showpost links that were removed they would have been duplicates.

You figure that the showthread page contains lets say ten posts. That means that if you have the showposts enabled, it has another 10 different showposts for every one that is on that page.

Appeared in sitemap 2 , 3 and sitemap_index.xml.gz .
