Any ideas what may wrong here?

What url did you submit to google?
you should be submiting domain.com/index_sitemap.xml.gz
http://www.sportsoutlaw.com/forum/sitemap_1.xml.gz
I thought this was how I did it in the past.
Either should work. If you point it to your root, just make sure the .htaccess in your root has the sitemap rewrite rule included. I prefer the root myself too, in case you ever decide to include other URLs off the root of your site.
I submitted the index file and no errors.
Did this change? I thought for sure that you could submit the individual files.
I prefer submitting all the individual files in my Google Webmaster account. It'll start grabbing them much quicker that way.
Those are the ones it gave me an error on though
What was the error message?
Your sitemap is 1.3megs. Google won't accept over 50,000 URLs per file. How many do you have? Mine are only about 400k each.
It said the file was not in a supported format. Just a general response like that.
I have it set at 40,000Originally Posted by Keith Cohen

I just tried to submit this sitemap to my google webmaster account and it sais:
Could you please check it again?sitemap_1.xml.gz Sitemap Web 15 minutes ago 17 minutes ago OK

maybe something fouled up when the sitemap was generated. I will run the generator again and see what happens. Will submit a ticket if it still an issue.
Thanks
submitted the individual files again and the took. Must have been some sort of error in the way that the files were generated the first time, or something goofy with google.
Works now
