    Error for my site map

    today i checked my sitemap account and got this message

    General HTTP error: 404 not found
    We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit. HTTP Error: 404
    Problem detected on: Dec 22, 2010

    can someone here tell me what ive done wrong here?

    your sitemap is loading fine for me. I would just re-submit it in webmaster tools and make sure you have the correct url

    google has a VERY low timeout setting. if your sitemap doesn't load for them within 2-3 seconds, they mark it as a 404 and move on. The massive number of sites they visit, a longer timeout would mean half as many sites get looked at in a day.

    If your server is having a hard time displaying the sitemaps in this time, you should make the url count lower so that the file size is smaller and thus loads faster.
