Question Created but not downloaded in 4 days, normal?

    hello,

I used lierduh's google sitemap creator from vbulletin.org and this worked great.

I recently use vbseo google /yahoo sitemap for it's extra features and it seems to be working ok but the sitemap file still isn't downloaded in 4 days now. Is this normal, and if so, when can I expect it to be downloaded by a crawler?

    Thank you

    Hi,

how do you determine when sitemap is downloaded - from vbseo_sitemap/ interface?
Do you have "Notify Google" option enabled in Sitemap Hack settings?

Please try adding sitemap URL to your Google Webmaster Account. (please also make sure you have the latest version of vBSEO Sitemap Generator)

Ok upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3 now

also added the url in my google sitemaps account but I can't get verified:

    Not verified
We discovered that your 404-page (file not found) has a status of 200 (OK) in the heading.

I have no idea what they mean and can't find a good explaination on google about this...

Although verification step is optional, here is the solution for this:

    Verifying Sitemap to Google problem

The hack doesn't seem to be doing anything :/

It shows no SE bots activity log, while they are clearly online all the time. Also no downloads of the sitemap and the number of pages in G index from our board is not increasing anymore (it used to be higher every day with the other hack)

I'm thinking about uninstalling and using the other again but hopefully someone can make this work for me

Do you have vbSEO 2.2.2 installed and the option to log the bots turned on? Otherwise, no data will show for that log.

2.2.0 is installed. I can't find the option to show/hide logs from bots in admincp.

But good news The maps are downloaded for the first time now:

In the vbSEOCP.php, there was a new option added to tell it to log bot traffic. That needs to be turned on if you want to see the detailed bot logs.

You have vBSEO2.2.0 installed, while "SE bots Activity Log" feature was introduced in 2.2.1. Please upgrade to the latest version

Ok just noticed that turning it back on still gives errors in google sitemaps when they get downloaded (please note I translated this page from dutch to english so you understand the text):

HTTP-errors | Unreachable URL's | URL's limited by robots.txt | URL's not followed | Time-out URL's We have tried to search in the following pages (found with links in your sitemaps or via other pages), but we could not open these.

So I disabled the option to redirect 404 error pages in the vbseo admin cp, to allow google to download my sitemaps.

Can you explain this error maybe? If it's really a problem, I think people should know that this doesn't work with google sitemaps.

    Thanks

The quoted errors are not related to the Google verification - these are general google crawler errors report. Perhaps you justhad a problems with host access at the time when the pages were crawled (note the same dates: Nov 8 and Nov 14).
