Crawlers/Spider numbers question

Hi everyone, Is the number of spiders daily from mainly Google subject to a really big variation..

Some days I have 1500 for google , other days 8000...

Seems they crawl the showposts every few days.... but yes there is a huge variance from day to day... is this the way its meant to be?

Absolutely. As magnificent as the Google crawling/indexing/ranking algorithms are, their brigade of bots has to work through billions of pages. It will always vary.

Sites that are seen *favorably* in Google's eyes may get visited more often and/or more content crawled per session. However, even for these teacher's pet sites, variance in daily/weekly crawling activity will occur.

The good news is that you are getting crawled, and having some good volume crawling days.
