Confused.

I am a little confused. So I have a sitemap generated for my forums. Does that mean that google will now ignore the rest of my site? Or will it just give it very low thought? Or will it do what it normally doe since I have not told it to have high or low priority for the rest of my site?

No they will go about their normal way but now it helps them access all pages within your forums much easier.
