Is it better to make your forums page your homepage?

As far as for search engines wouldnt it be better to have your homepage be your forums section, and then members could go to other parts of the site from there.... just curious if there would be a great advantage, i have vbseo and sitemap installed...just not sure if it would help index alot more pages more easy by doing this?

it really depends.....

i had a cms before with the forums in /forums, and then i got rid of it and just have my forums in root with links to the stuff from the old cms.
