Adding Site map to Google Analytics?

I remember some time ago i was able to add the sitemap for my site into google analytics, i think i did this with a free version of vbseo some time ago.

However i have a site map now with the paid version and cannot see where i would be able to add this to my analytics page?

You would add your sitemap into here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dashboard

However, please note that the sitemap generator is a different (free) product from vBSEO.

If im correct its the string that ends with sitemap_index.xml.gz?

Google also allows you to specify the type of sitemap im entering.. they have options such as:

General Web Sitemap
Mobile Sitemap
Code Search Sitemap
Geo Sitemap
Video Sitemap

Im assuming it would be "General Web Sitemap"?"

Correct. It would be yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz

I have added the sitemap verification code to my website @ www.mydomain.com however i notice that the sitemap is at /forum/ do i need to apply the verification at forum root also or is that not necessary as applying it to the main domain is fine?

you should only have to verify ownership of the domain. It will tell you if you need to verify ownership of the /forum/ folder however
