I installed vbseo with the sitemap plugin. It's been about 2 months now. The reports show Google and Yahoo spidering my site everyday. I have yet to receive 1 referral to the new formatted URLs though.
Do these results sound common?

it does take some time,, do you have any quality backlinks to your site ? have you done any other SEO work ?

yes, i do have some quality backlinks, along with link exchanges too. my site ranks 121,000 on alexa, so it does get moderate traffic.
a long time ago i used a rewrite mod on the forum and i saw results within a month. when i updated to vb 3.0, i lost that mod and left it normal for a while. then i recently upgraded.
most of my traffic comes from google and yahoo, it's just not to the new URLs.
i will just have to sit tight for a little longer.
How long ago did you upgrade to vB 3.0, and how long did you have the mod in place prior?
the prior mod was probably in place for about a year. then i upgraded to 3.0 around the time it came out. it was like that for a while. no rewrite at all.
then, i was pretty late in upgrading to 3.5.x, but i finally did just a little before i implemented vbseo.
i'm not complaining here, i know this is an awsome product and i'm at the mercy of the engines. i'm was just trying to get a feel for other's experience.
It really varies. We get some forums that seem to start getting indexed at amazing rates. Others report that the indexing is at a regular pace, but they see a jump in their Google referrals due to their pages being more relevant, etc.
I've seen several who report indexing to be slow, but are actually doing very well. But we understand that SEO is frustrating when you're at the mercy of the SEs and it's hard to have patience when you're so excited and enthusiastic about your site doing better. We've all been there at one time or another.
There are some sites that do make slower progress. Usually there is some indication that it is a sandboxing issue or perhaps something blackhat they've been penalized for in the recent past, etc. These external variables do have impact.
