2 forums merging

Ive just merged 2 forums, should i make any additional steps ?
Any way to redirect old google indexed URLs to new forum ?

Thanks in advance ( both sites were using vbseo sitemap ).

Do you mean merging 2 websites? (not subforums) You should setup a 301 redirect from secondary domain to the main one.

Yes Oleg i mean 2 seperate forums into one. Do I setup 301 redirect via .htaccess ?

You can create it via Custom Redirect Tool within vBSEO Control Panel

If your second domain resides in separate folder (or on different host), you can create .htaccess in domain root:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourmaindomain.com/ [L,R=301]

How hard was this to do? I was thinking about doing the same thing with a fitness forum and another forum I run. I was thinking it would be nothing but headaches though.

Merging was very easy with impex, took me 2 hrs ( because of large attachments database ) Now I will have to work on redirecting old urls.

However i donot think rewrite will work in your case since during the import process all the thread id's have changed for your imported forum
