Question How should you do link exchange?

I know what link exchange is, but my question is that I just started a link exchange section on my forum. Of course it has a zero page rank, since all the links go to my forum front page and forums section.

When people do link exchange, do they normally ask the person to link to the link exchange page (thereby building up its PR) or do they ask them to link to the front page?

    Thanks

In a link exchange, where do people usually post their link from? Where is the destination to? The link exchange page of the other guy or his main page?

If all links go to the main page, then how does the link exchange page get any page rank? If the link exchange page has zero page rank, isn't the link in the link exchange worthless?

    Ofcourse his main page!

It will gain the page rank from the main page If he put link to it there.

But If you want my advice, this way is not useful at all.Try to make the links site wide. What you will get from PR 0 page and not even main page?

I think signature links from DP forums will me more useful than that.

It`s dynamic page have PR 2 and alot of OBLs!.It won`t be that useful but If they accept puting there link in page like it, what`s the problem?

And you can get alot of links like that for free from signature links in DP forums or v7n.

    Thanks for that info.

However, I find it worth noting that the site which is offering this service has a zero page rank. I wonder why that is.

Of course you must request to the person to link your site to your home page then link his site in your related links site or any place where you place your related links

Yeah, that's kind of a big issue for me, since I can see that the links are already starting to pile up and it looks bad for your webpage, doesn't it? If you got a bunch of links to random sites on your front page. Do you guys put your link exchange on the front page or in a "links" or "resources" subdirectory?

this service is brand new, that's why that is a zero.

My point was that getting blog post are great because you are getting contextual deep links back to your site.

This is hot right now. If your asking how you can do a link back system, I guess you can just use one thread like that person did, tho I don't recommend it.

I've used the webtemplates mod and make a page to link back with, but now I would use thegeeks GAR's with the link directory addition.
    here is an example
Free vBulletin Link Directory - vBulletin Setup Optimization

or I've even used phpld 2.0 free link directory script and made a link directory of my own attached to the site.

    hope this helps ya out
