Google webmaser tools

Anyone know how often the "Links to your site" section of google webmaster tools updates? i've been doing some work on my backlinks and the link i've been concentrating on for my backlinks isn't showing the bottom of the page says "last update 4th Feb" but i've been working at it for about a month

The google is trying removing all the unwanted and non relevant links from this database list for a particular site, it's kinda very tough strategy by Google this month, i was having 6000+ links in March and now it left only 2300+.

Well I'm bumping this old thread - but I want to say that It's roughly every week. You can expect a new count once every week.

Why are they removing links? I have several good links from articles which are about that specific subject ad its not showing up on webmaster tools.....

I would not trust any of that information.

Have you also check your links on Yahoo Backlink Tools? You can also use it for checking your backlinks.

I am agree with this statement. Google webmaster tools can help us to understand such statistics. But, ranking or determination of back links are different thinks. I can suggest that, you have to focus more on quality. If you will gather external links with good page rank so, it will help you more.

I started to figure that when I saw how much mine changed and how different the Google webmaster count is from the yahoo links count.

I guess the best way to monitor this is to just keep creating backlinks the old fashioned way one by one and hopefully wait and watch as they should help you climb up on google.

Every content when spidered gets an hash value. If it's a duplicate content, it's removed or lowered on rankings. For this reason backlinks page remove from index and as a result you see it dropped from the section. Also google has a sneaky policy for the people who trys to manipulate his sytems. They may cover some of the backlinks for this reason.
