Received an email from Websquash, about pay one fee and get a 2000 link exchanges

Link Exchange Service for better search engine ranking & website exposure.

Is this a good or bad method of link building.

Being one to not trust anything that comes through in an email and also being aware of the way google penalises people.

Any ideas

It's not something that I'd pay for. There's no guarantee that the 2000 sites are going to be high quality/good PR, they could be 2000 sites that they knocked up in half an hour.

"The only good link is a free link" if you ask me

These techniques were widely popular way back in 2005. Several website seo's used to purchase around 100,000 back links within a month, and were found ranking on top the very next day.

These days search engines have deployed artificial inteliigence techniques and algorithm which look at the history, behaviour, business, and both external and internal activities. If they find any artificial attempt on off-page or on-page then it can prove detrimental to your website rankings.

Always use natural search engine optimization techniques using unique article promotion, contributing to related forums, and submitting to some web directories.

I do not think that having 2000 automatic link exchange will do any benefit to your website.

Moreover your page rank has nothing to do with actual rankings. A website with PR 2 can be better than having back link from PR4

Link exchange is thing of the past, and one must abstain from it.
