    Yahoo Launches New Homepage/Portal

Yahoo Launches Their New Homepage Portal with More Organized New Layout

Yahoo Search Blog introduces their new homepage. The site looks cleaner and better.

    Notes on vBSEO
    • SEO and and aesthetics are often a tradeoff. You want to maintain a positive user experience and make the site attractive/sticky while maximizing its potential for organic search results.
    • vBSEO's template is going to be released to customers free of charge. It's design was intended to meet both objectives to a high degree.
    For Discussion
    • Does Yahoo's new homepage appeal to you? Will it change your searching habits or pull you away from Google?
    • Does a portal cause information overload and send people away to scaled back interfaces like Google's for simplicity in launching a search?
    • Have you tried Google's Personalized homepage? How does Yahoo's integrated homepage/portal compare?

I dig it. Lot's of nicely used Ajax, and TAG like menu options that are larger or smaller than others based on popularity (I'm assuimg) while still organized in alpha order. Nice job.

Ohh well, it's a beta. maybe they will clean up their code a little bit more before going live. Heck, even msn.com is xhmlt strict 100% valid now-a-days.

I dont use portals, only use yahoo, google, msn for searching. If i want news on a certain subject i search for it!! They should stick to search engines and not get bogged down with tickers for news blogs, groups etc...

Oddly enough, it was Google's simplicity of interface that (I believe) made it most attractive. Of course, nowadays I do use the Google personalized homepage. But it's still much simpler than the SE portals.
