Question Yahoo Does not Recognize 301's? Rankings Dropping!

I thought this deserved it's on thread.

    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...&fr2=seo-rd-se

My site has had vbSEO installed for a while, but still, there is thousands of pages that have been crawled recently that have not have the URL updated. What gives?

In addition, Yahoo recently started indexing my pages like mad, and thousands of my pages lost their rankings. What gives? If they're reindexing, shouldn't ranking go up?

Can someone explain any of this.

I have experienced the exact same phenomenon. While google results have skyrocketed, my yahoo results have gone from being somewhat good to nearly nothing at all. (Note that while this could be explained by a "shake-up" due to the change in SEO, this little quirk has persisted for me for quite some time.)

However, officially Yahoo does support 301 redirects.

I get excellent rankings in Yahoo and I went from a stock board with about 200,000 posts to VBSEO and it updated fine to the new urls

    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...wm=Explore+URL

Shows 152,000 pages indexed and 113k links. I switched the board over in October of 2005 and even went through a few url structure changes and they handled it fine.

That's interesting. I've even been sending Yahoo sitemaps. My total pages in the sitemaps are under a million, yet yahoo still has over a million indexed; at the moment 1,378,939

Here is something that I found that may explain why things are happening like this for me in yahoo: Yahoo! Help -

See the second case. My URL's are in the formal domain.net/forum/thread.html

The old ones were in the format domain.net/t1234.html - in effect moving down a directory. :(
