Would this method for vBulletin optimization give better results

Can someone (preferably vbseo staff or other SEO pros) take a look at the following thread and maybe suggest if this method would work better for onpage optimization.

Title and Description Changes for Better SEO v3.63 - vBulletin FAQ Forums

I know it is an old thread, but I tried it in one of my smaller vB forums and I saw a slight increase in Google activity on my boards. I also noticed that I have more indexed pages for the last 2 weeks, while I applied this method a month ago.

I am not sure if this caused it or the Google PR update, but any hints are appreciated.

I do not have vBSEO in that board, but I am hesitant to apply it on my other vBSEO powered board.

Regards.

vBulletin-faq used to be on number 3 spot for keyword vBulletin. Now they are not even on page 1 for keyword vBulletin. Thats an easy example why you shall not listen any of their advises regarding SEO

You shouldn't listen just because of the page number they're on? That's pretty silly. Regardless of what page they're on for the keyword, there are many many members who do very well using the seo tips and tricks found on vBFAQ.

Fact is, I've done better with their tips, than I ever did with anything else.
And yes, I've used vBSEO.

Too bad. vBulletin-FAQ is growing, expanding, and doing quite well

Funny thing is, if you google vbulletin administrators help (which is what the site is all about, btw), vBFAQ is on page 1.

I've used their tips and you can see how I used them on one of the later pages as I modified the code a bit. It's easier to incorporate some of the edits using vbseo if done right.

Be sure to review my posts there as they may help you out more. My username is AzzidReign.

Better than what? Better than an out-of-the-box vBulletin set up? Yes, of course. The most important part is the title. It's enough, IMO, to just edit the <title> tag on the forumhome, forumdisplay and showthread templates. Most search engines ignore the meta keywords and description fields in their ranking algos, so I'm not sure how much SEO benefit there is in worrying about them.

@bernard - Title's AND header tags (h1, h2, etc) I would say are both of high importance. vBSEO makes header tags easy to customize using the relevant replacements.

Agree, but that isn't the subject of this thread.

Wow it was a while since I visited this thread. I see some vB heavyweights clashed here. Quite a show

lol, now I am even more confused which one should I follow.

Seriously, I think this method has its own benefits for the people who cannot afford vbseo atm, since the stats from big G in my forum are going up and are targeted on few keywords.
