Would disabling category links help SEO?

On FORUMHOME it lists my forums separated by category. The category titles are links themselves, though, and take users to a subset of the FORUMHOME list that only lists forums in that category. Could removing the hyperlinks from category titles have SEO benefit since everything on the pages they link to is duplicative of what is on the home page? Would there be any benefit or drawback with humans? Do you think that human users link to forum categories, which are just lists of forums in that particular category, or otherwise like to use them?

    Thanks!

I personally hate this feature. It may be good for SEO, but for usability, it's annoying.

So... is it better for SEO to remove the redundant category links? or should I just leave them?
