I've been searching but I wanted to be really clear...Wordpress and Vbulletin must be in separate folders?
Is there a way the .htaccess can be written where both of them will work in the same folder?

You can only run them both in the same folder if one or both does not user 'permalinks'.
Since both wordpress and vbseo run on a 'catchall' concept, you can't catch all into 2 scripts (vbseo.php for vb urls, index.php for wordpress)

I just moved the forums to their own folder, it was much simpler that way to clear up the clutter, Thanks Brian.
