Question Why vBSEO Claims Forum Archives As Bad?

Hello, I am wondering why vBSEO claims that vBulletin's archive system is bad for crawling and search optimization?

Google itself said such a sitemap archive system makes it easier to crawl and index links/sites and its always been a general rule in search optimization that inner-page linking is great and boosts you for keyword rankings and relevancy and I think that the archive system is a great way to do it because inner page links have thread titles as the anchor text?

So how is the archive system a bad thing? An HTML sitemap is a lot better than just a XML sitemap because it contains anchor text which categorizes the keyword/key phrases of the link/page?? An XML sitemap only allows bots to crawl all of your pages while the HTML sitemap makes bots read the links as they are and help rank it better..

We don't claim them as bad so much as 'un-necessary' with vbseo enabled. All deep integration links are available via the sitemap to follow. (ie, page 96 doesn't have a direct link to it form the main forum view page, but it is available within the sitemap).

It's really up to you. Even Juan and myself have a different point of view on the archive. If it works for you and you like it- run it. If you don't, kill it.

I can tell you my observation and why i use it. Theocritically not using archives will be good thing. Because more seo juice may flow to threads and content links. But pratically when tested i observed when i no use archive links i have less bot traffic and my online count seems little bit lower. When you remove your main page loads abit faster and less bantwidth you use. But when used bots become has to visit more links them jump one to another via these links. This make it extra traffic appear on what's goin on box. If it's good thing for you then go for it. Also you can provide some extra links to these archive pages. It looks like an exra content page and when compared with main forum its crawlibility is much more advantageous. This will create alot of extra bot traffic as well.

I hope you get the idea here. For new forums i advice it to be used for this reason.

PS: My recommendation base on seo juice flow theory. When a page has 1000 links each link will get 1/1000 seo juice from outside links. Google will equally flow no matter nofollow or dofollow links the seo importance or seo juice.
