What Kind of RSS Tactic is Better for SEO?

1) Use RSS with something like Carp to display headlines and link out to sources. Only headlines get indexed.
2) Use built-in VB RSS tool to display full news stories as threads and get the whole content of news stories indexed

What's better?

I have several vB forums with vBA. I prefer to create a vBA news page with headlines and snippets. I review this page myself daily and re-post only the really interesting items in the forum itself with my own commentary or questions. I prefer this method as it tends to stimulate more discussion in the forums.

IMO, forums that just auto-post RSS content don't generate as much discussion. Human members tend to ignore auto-posted content.

Of course, if your forum is just an MFA site, you might not care.

Well, I'm actually thinking of putting the auto-posted news on the VBa. Granted, I know that those threads will generate close to 0 discussion. But wouldnt it be better for SEO to have the whole body of the news stories text on your site rather than just the news/headline that you get from a regular RSS news feed?

I am wondering if having the whole thing indexed will result in duplicate content penalties. I've recently gone down in rankings, perhaps this is the cause.
