Exclamation What to do with 4.0x

    Hi

I have been a long time customer of vBulletin and vbseo.

I have purchased 4.0 when it was released but as yet have not updated due to concerns with my current indexing by Search Engines.

I would like to know if anyone else has had any problems with their indexing with the upgrade.
There has been alot said since the release of 4.0 and I do like the look of the CMS and as I have paid for it I would like to use it.

As you can understand it is a big step to upgrade if there might be problems.

I am not sure what to do, I also want to get the best out of vbseo by aslo upgrading but I need to upgrade to 4.0 in order to do this?

    Any feedback would be great

    Regards
    Ryan

Our latest version, 3.5.2, works on both vb3 and vb4 the same. Obviously vb4 has more sections for the cms, bot otherwise, from a vbseo perspective, there are no differences. You will need to import the correct plugin for your vb version upon upgrading, and since you need to disable all plugins from vb3 before upgrading to vb4, its best to perform a full upgrade after vb4 is installed.

Some users have reported a traffic loss after going to vb4 for about a month or so. This is normal when you completely change the way your site is rendered (tables to divs).

    Thanks Brian,

Lots have been happening with vBulletin I dont know what to do
it is very hard to get an opinion, because everything I read is bad, but I like what they have done with 4.0, I just want some reassurance but it is hard to find some.

Any more comments would be greatly appreciated

    Thank

IMO, if you need a CMS, it's worth an upgrade. If you don't, I'd suggest waiting till 4.1 drops... maybe a sub version of 4.1.x. It's getting better with each point release, but it's still not 'there' yet for me/my personal sites. I hope to upgrade at some point.
