Hello,
I'm trying to use a welcome image instead of the welcome message that is provided by vB Notices. However, I see that the Notices Manager doesn't allow for IMG tags.
Any ideas how to get around this?
Thanks!
Barbara

Hi Barbara,
Instead of using the image technique, we recommend that you know make use of vBSEO 3.3.0's "Virtual HTML Display" for vBulletin notices.
You can enable it within your vBSEO control panel (vbseocp.php). Basically, it prevents the non-relevant text (i.e. since it occurs on every page) from negatively impacting the page's ranking for it's specific terms (i.e. what the page is actually about).
Let me know if you have any questions. I know the above paragraph is a bit confusing.
How will affect your forum's homepage ranking? Let's say my site is about 'Blue Widgets'. I'm ranking for 'Blue Widgets Forums' right now. When it comes up in Google, the old welcome message with some keyword phrases appears (ie. Blue Widgets forums).
Does Virtual HTML Display offer any sort of replacement? If we remove the notice from Google, what should we concentrate on when it comes to forum homepage SEO?Code:Congratulations on finding the forums for Blue Widgets. Our Blue Widget forum has provided...
BTW, I do like the idea.
Thanks.
For the homepage itself, you have more control over what specific content that goes there (versus a user created thread).
If the welcome message is the only occurrence of the term you are ranking for, then it would certainly be impacted by removing the notice with our Virtual HTML Display feature.
I would consider looking at different ways to get coverage of the term on the page without relying only on the notices. If you use vBA, or another content management system, as your homepage, then you can do a lot of stuff instead of just the VB notice.
Yes, very glad to hear that you are using the Relevant Replacements. Other common benefits that customers report with RRs are more relevant snippets, and possible improvements in AdSense ad relevancy.
Thanks for the ideas!
