    Vbulletin 3.6 Beta 1 - Released!

    vBulletin 3.6 Beta 1 Released - vBulletin Community Forum

    With the recent release of Vbulletin 3.6 Beta 1, the question comes to mind: Would vbseo 3.0 work with the latest version?

    I'm about to find out.... will update later - if someone else doesn't before I get to it.

    If the test forum works with vbseo and a few other modifications then I will be upgrading the live community to 3.6 Beta 1 tonight.

    There have been quite a couple of edits to both the postbit and showthread templates, for which vBSEO edits when inserting their trackback and pingback functionality. However, apart from that there shouldn't be any issues with vBSEOs "core" functionality (the URL rewriting).

    After installing the plugin I was unable to access the forum and this includes the admincp :

    Fatal error: Cannot create references to/from string offsets nor overloaded objects in /*/
    */*/*/*/includes/class_core.php on line 1263 (Line 1262 and 1263 is:
    // set the version number variable
    $this->registry->versionnumber =& $this->registry->options['templateversion']; )

    Where as on 3.5.4: Line #1258-1264 are:

    /**
    * Fetches the contents of the datastore from the database
    *
    * @param array Array of items to fetch from the datastore
    *
    * @return boolean
    */

    Well I definitely won't be trying out 3.6 then! Hope it's fixed soon.

    Yes, this will be corrected ASAP.

    Great timing for a new vB release as vBSEO 3.0 final will be made compatible with 3.6

    This is why I recommend (well one of the reasons) vbseo as much as possible.

    I would also advise everyone to lay off the vbulletin upgrade until vbseo has a release to work with it.

    I personally wont be messing with the new vB version until it has a stable release. I dont remember seeing this many issues with a beta release of vbulletin in the past. I love the product, but I think this one left the nest a little too soon. Then again it is a beta release, and everyone is advised to not load int into a live forum. In the past though, that has not stopped vbulletin forum owners.

    As noted many times by Jelsoft, you should NOT be running the beta versions on any live sites. The beta was released for people to run on their test sites to help find bugs, and for plugin authors to start making their products compatible with 3.6.

    This site does not run vbseo, but it is a large site running the beta, apparently with no problems. Webmaster Forum - Internet Marketing & Search Engine Forums

    I was surprised they upgraded so quickly. Normally sites of that size wait until a Gold release at least before installing.
