the use of pivate messages for news is annoying. the object is probably to get more people coming back to the site, but the result for me is shutting off pms.

If you go to your UserCP -> Edit Options page you will see this option:

From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option.
Receive Email from Administrators

Turn that off if you would like to skip receiving PM/E-Mail updates from the vBSEO Staff.

LOL, whats so annoying about that, after all they don't spam you, its just to update you of whats happening atound vbSEO ?
