Well, you 2 steps on front of IPB gallery. )) You have done a great job with your forum and gallery! Koz you have a right tools for it.

Very wise! Other ways just another winger. ))

P.S. Will swap IPB – board, blogs, gallery, downloads, package for VB4-CMS. Anyone?

I've started my conversion to IPB. Gonna take a while to get everything all set up the way I like it but already liking the change and fresh air.

I hope at some point in the future crawability will look into this further when IP.Boards market share grows. If so you've gladly got a customer again.

Brian, I do understand your point of the return of investment. I am thinking of switching to IPB, too.

Reduce market entry costs. Take only 5% of whats most important on vbseo and port that over to the ipb product for the same price. Regarding the link types just vbseo as it installs itself, no choosing between 1234-topic-title.html or 1234_topic_title and so on. It's even a selling point "install in 5 minutes you do not have to worry about configuration - we choose the best for you". Remember Mr. Ford "You can choose any color as long as it is black". If it sells you can continue porting more and more stuff to the ipb product. Whether or not you may give discounts for early ipseo adopters, that's up to you.

Control future demand. You also might contract with IPB so they do not work on features you want to provide as an expert.

Switchers from vbulletin to ipb will buy your product anyway, the money your product costs is nothing for big boards. However, big boards may be a smaller percentage of your users, I do not know.

It's already too late. As stated in the post above you, Invision Power Services -> IPB 3.1: Search Engine Optimization IPB has already announced more SEO features which easily would cut 80% of the market share of the limited market share as it is. They likely will continue to add more enhancements based on our (and other general) seo best practices.

I certainly can't speak for our CEO, but IMO, it's a wasted effort at this point.

A month ago, I was hoping to see Crawlability develop a script for IPB. After another month's worth of data collected from Google Analytics, I'm changing my mind.

In early November '09, I converted four vB/vBSEO sites to IPB. I tried MinervaSEO for a brief period, but it has problems of it's own and I removed it. I've made a couple file edits to remove the forum name from topic and post pages, but other than that all four sites are box-stock IPB, using their FURLs.

My traffic numbers are all up. Ranking on my top keywords has improved. My revenue is better than ever. And there are still some areas IPS are working on, to clean things up even more.

Maybe Crawlability could make things that much better, but I can't argue with the Analytics data. I was a pretty tough sale on vBSEO in the first place and I think I would be even tougher now.

I really like the changes I am seeing them make in 3.1.0. That is when I will make the switch. I would still like to see a vBSEO for IPBoard though.

I don't plan to make an immediate change, but am interested in the option. Both of my sites use PhotoPost 7, which would help the transition to IPB if I were ready to jump ship. Great software like vbseo and vbadvanced are keeping me stationary for now.

Even though a full fledged ipbseo module is not or may not be needed, I think there is room for vbseo to penetrate the market with a reasonable amount of success. There are features that IPB will not have thought of that can make inroads into the ipb market. A small seo product for ipb can be a great way to start off and test the market with out having too much risk.

For example, vbseo has the the feature where static pages can be at the bottom in numeric format. There obviously is no IPB equivalent of this.

I will not be renewing my vbulletin license after many years. I have 3.8.4 and don't plan to get 4.0. I'm looking at IBP at this moment.

with the delay in 4.0.2 I'm hopeful this might be a turn around.
