    vbseo causes high server load.

The script vbseo.php under your forums directory was causing a high load on your server and the directory needed to be disabled to prevent the server from crashing. This script will either need to be disabled or reconfigured to reduce how often it runs and the CPU usage. Otherwise this site will need to be moved to a dedicated server.
:( I'm not ready to move to a dedicated server yet. My forum only has about 2000 members, with about 9000 posts, and only 50 people online at the same time Max.

    Typical of them...

I would suggest moving hosts. You can easily run your site on similar hardware/cost at another provider without issues.

Good web hosts for VBSEO-powered forums

Can somebody please explain this for me from the troubleshooting guide
Move rewrite rules from .htaccess to httpd.conf For users with dedicated servers, the vBSEO rewrite rules applied in the .htaccess files can be moved directly into the httpd.conf file for more efficient performance.

if you have root access, you can move the contents of the htaccess file into the httpd.conf file on the apache configuration itself. This runs a HAIR faster, since it's basically 'built into' apache as a 'setting' at that point instead of having to look up the file at run-time.

More info: Apache Tutorial: .htaccess files

Every option is a suggestion only. At the end of the day, if you're spiking out your hardware and your site is doing well, it's probably time to move to a more powerful provider. A lot of people have webserver specs that my personal laptop blows away. (ie, 2gb of ram in my laptop, vs 1 gb in the server) The webserver is obviously doing more 'work'. So, keep that in mind when you think the 512 gurenteed shared solution is 'good enough'.

    Word of advice:
You don't have to abandon hostgator while running vbseo. However, if you are going to move or delete a lot of threads, then it might be useful to disable vbseo and then do whatever forum duties might need tending to.

I had this problem with vbseo and hostgator where we had to delete a large number of forum threads and move a large number of forum threads while using vbseo and this caused my problems at hostgator. Every other time, vbseo and hostgator were not a problem for our forum hosting on hostgator.

Also, you might want to consider disabling whatever scheduled tasks you do not need for the time being.

    Cheers.

We do hear more reports about HostGator shutting down some of customer sites, more often than other hosting providers.
