    Cool vbAdvanced alternative?

I'm trying to get away from vbAdvanced. I started using it for the blocks and modules, but I have no need for the homepage. Does anyone have advice as far as plugins that allow you to create blocks and modules around your forum, but without the homepage?

Also, does anyone know if there is some kind of penalty from google if i have to uninstall vbulletin from the /forums folder and reinstall it in the root folder once i get rid of vbAdvanced?

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can create your own plugins and use it instead of vbadvanced. I personally do that.

If you're looking to keep the modules you're using on your forum, why not keep vBa CMPS and just ditch the homepage? You can run CMPS, and use it for integrating modules on your other pages, without having to use it as a portal.

As for switching the forums from /forums to the root, one of the guys here may be able to help out with some rewrites so that your old /forums URL rewrites to / instead.
