VB 3.8.4 and the new up and coming EBay affiliate RSS feeds

    Guys,

I'm trying to get a jump start on re-tooling my EBay auction affiliate ad feeds for the upcoming EBay switch in June which will render the old feeds non-functional. In doing so, I created a test forum for the new feed to see what I was in for. I discovered that the new feeds will not display using BB Code, and that one must create a forum group that allows the feed to post items in html. EBay is aware of the issue and blames VBulletin, Vbulletin, well..you know how that goes. So, for security sake, I've had to disallow all posts and replies and essentially everything but viewing and clicking to everyone except my posting robot. I'm sure most of you RSS EBay feed users know this already, so please forgive me if I'm overstating the obvious.

Everything functions good so far, with one exception. When I click on "Add to Watch List" all the auction items return an "Invalid Item" error, and display the item number with a space located in the exact same place. For example:

    12072054 0203

Always in between the 8th and 9th digit of the auction item ID number. The numbers are always accurate, if you copy the numbers into EBay, eliminate the space, the item is correct to their respective post.

My question is first, how do I fix it second, is there a way to disable vBSEO from doing it's "thing" on this test forum? I think that this might be some sort of vBSEO issue (I don't know what else it could be).

    Thanks for any insight.

vbseo doesn't split anything.... vb does have a setting for long lines

    ie,

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

will split ever X chars for line wraping purposes. This is in vb options.

Thanks Brian, I did have my "Number of Characters Before Wrapping Text" set at 50. Still confused and still gets broken in the same spot. It worked perfectly when the posts were converted from html to bb code. I increased the value to 55 and will see what happens when the RSS feed grabs new items.

You may also want to consider using a 3rd party service like viglink to get your RSS from.

    Brian,

Your suggestion worked! I tried it at 55 chars, which had a notable effect but the link was still broken. I counted the chars in the actual feed, added 50 chars onto it just to be safe, and it works great now.

Just a side-note, I posted the same problem on VBulletin and never received a reply. Come to find out my problem was not even a problem that had anything to do with vBSEO and you took the time to help within minutes of my post. Thank You. Another reason why someday I really hope I see the combined attitude of vBSEO and forum software. Who knows maybe someday we could all be running vBSEO bulletin boards, SEO built from the ground up right into the software...ah one can always dream.
