    Hello,

If you aren't on vbseo 3.5.x, you should upgrade your 3.8 board first to our latest version.
Then, make a backup, vbseo_all.xml from the vbseocp so you have all your settings.

Then, do as vb suggests, disable all plugins, do the vb upgrade.
then, install vbseo 3.5.1 pl1 again, this time importing the vb4 product.
Finally, import your XML settings back up.

Then, you may need to configure a few more items for new vb4 sections (cms, etc).

Sorry for posting here, but I have a question- if I have changes in the config file which was added manually, do I need to save it too?

What sort of changes? Things like Forum Slugs etc have been moved to the vBSEO Control pannel now. So you will need to keep a backup and re set these parts up once you have moved.
