Turning off Thread Content View

Does anyone know if it would harm pages being indexed if I were to prevent unregistered users from viewing thread content?

Currently, I have:

Can View Thread Content as OFF for unregistered users.

But this would also prevent spiders accessing the content on these pages. Is my thinking correct?

Yes, it prevents search engines from indexing your site. If you want to be indexed, you'll need to allow guests to view content.
