Trackbacks and Pingbacks on vb blog and forum?

On my vBulletin 4.0.1 Blog there is a place where you can check to activate trackbacks/pingbacks. Is this useful and does vBseo advise using it or not using it?

While I'm asking this the above mentioned trackbacks/pingbacks feature is also available for the forums thru my AdminCP. What do you advise for it on the forums?

I assume this is by default because I don't recall ever working worth these settings.

I would recommend turning it off for blogs, as it can be a spam haven and is native to vb, thus does not use vbseo's moderation queue system like we offer on the forums.

For forums, I would suggest enabling, but requiring moderation as the default option and simply never approve 99.99% of them.


I only suggest displaying any of these if you get linked from something serious... like in your case, a link from the city's .gov website.

this way YOu/staff can see who/what is linking to you, but regular members don't ever see it, and neither do bots to give them a free link.
