I have this modification on my site as well. I am debating the same thing.
You are increasing your links for the site to be crawled.....
this is where my thinking comes in...users do like it...and if you please the users they will keep coming back.
Does anyone know where I can get this mod???
All those hack will tarnish your seo rating immensly, do not and I repeat do not use them.
lol I am only joking, I cant speak from expertise because I am only just dipping my feet with this website stuff, but I highly doubt they will harm your SEO omtimizations, I even doubt many hacks would do any harm ,if anything they actaully help your forum.
I dug this mod up for you here is the link Cyb - Advanced Forum Statistics - vBulletin.org Forum .
I do not recommend adding any more extra links on the homepage than necessary. The most valuable component, in my opinion, is the top 5 popular threads, because that is something that is *more* likely than not to attract new members. The rest is not so important.
Perhaps you could set this up to display for members only, instead of guests?
Also, using the welcome headers plugin is a good way to emphasize and direct new visitors directly to threads and content that you want them to see... or (even better) that you think they'll be interested in seeing.![]()
what about making manual changes to put rel="nofollow" into all of this mods links?
2011 Average: 1 post every 5 seconds... 24/7
That could be helpful. Keep in mind, that even though Google is instructed not to follow the links because of rel=nofollow, Google still "sees" the links. That is, it knows they are on the page, of course. In general, consider the following:
- Google is aware that you have numerous links at the top of your text, for which you are instructing the bot not to follow. However, it "has already" (and/or "will soon") find them via an alternative path somewhere else.
- All of the support text and anchor text in the links is *still* considered a part of the page content, and it's still discovered prominently at the top of the page. Therefore, it impacts the keyword relevancy for the page. Carefully selected keywords in your forum names and descriptions will carry less weight with this in place, even with rel=nofollow added.
I have that mod and i use it at the bottom of the forums. Will it have an impact on my seo by having it at the bottom of the forums?
Which mod do you have? The top 5 stats?
Yes i have the top 5 mod.
It's better at the bottom than the top. I would probably set it up to be visible for members only for best SEO. The top 5 threads is the most valuable part of it.
