Question Sudden drop in pages (google index)

Yesterday 18500 pages indexed for the forum domain

    Today 14900 :(

Didn't do anything that could cause this, only using the vbseo sitemaps instead the hack from vb.org

Is it normal that the number drops sometimes?

It happened to me as well. I went from 14,900 down to 286 before Google came again and started pulling my site maps.

Yep, I went from 75k+ down to about 11k. Google just started coming back when I submitted all my sitemaps.

Re: Sudden drop in pages (google index)

The strange thing is, there are now 18 spiders online on my board from google alone and these high numbers are common lately. I'm not sure if they are looking at archive pages vs normal pages for duplicate content...

If you're using vbSEO Sitemap and vbSEO 2.2.1+, you can turn on the option to track what the bots are viewing and then you'll see the reports of where they went.
