Success Story

Hello,

I wanted to do a quick story:
The website we're running has a couple of live cameras installed specifically on surf beaches in Puerto Rico.

Yesterday, somebody told me we were on the 1st page of Google if you search for "live surf cams".

So I checked it out, and true enough (as of today), we're on position number 8.

Now, I know next to nothing about SEO, yet I happily installed vBSEO in vBulletin, and vBSEO's Sitemap generator.
Have had it close to a year installed.

Sweet Lord, we are on Google's 1st page.
Under a site that has been online for over a decade!
We have been online approximately <26 months!

Wanted to do a quick update:
Yesterday, I took a look at our pages... and there was one specific camera that was ranked higher than our main homepage.
((that was the one at number 8 spot))

The keyword was: "BEACH-NAME Live Surf Cams"
So, I changed all the other camera pages to that style "BEACH-NAME Live Surf Cams"
Then on our homepage, I changed from "Home Page" ((lame!)), to "Puerto Rico Live Surf Cams"

Lo and behold, today, under 12 hours after the change, we are ranked number 3 and 4 in Google for the search terms "Live Surf Cams".
Thank you vBSEO!

Brian, now there are only two to go over!
Maybe you guys see this all the time, yet I'm flabbergasted at these results!!

Ok, I clearly have a lot to learn about SEO and Google.
I did a Google search for "live surf cams" via my phone, and we don't appear nowhere in the 1st page.
Google is displaying... I would guess the results directed at searches coming out of Puerto Rico, when done from my home DSL or office's internet line.

Yet the phone, that its IP is from out side Puerto Rico, then the results are vastly similar.

Anywhere I can get the "Page Ranks" from Google?
No hurries... I'm still pumped about all of this... learning a lot!

Your GEO-location will always influence any local/place style searches. If i search for 'beach' I will certainly see different items than you will because it knows where i am.

More generic items like "shirt" will probably show the same results.
