Apparently you can also submit RSS feeds to your Google Webmaster Tools (Google Code FAQ - Creating a Sitemap), so I am curious to know if this is good idea or not, and if it is recommended.
What are your thoughts?

There is no need to do so as you have a sitemap generator and you are submitting your threads are submitted via sitemap files.
