Subforum Creation - Will I lose rankings?

Hi,

I have a section in my forums called "reviews", and as we add more reviews of different items, I've decided that it would be tidier to add subforums, so it would then be,

Reviews->subforum1, subforum2, subforum3 etc.

Some of the the reviews have got top ranking on google, so obviously I dont want to ruin that, so my question is,

Will making the subforums and sorting my existing threads into them make me lose google ranking, due to the extra /subforum1/ in the url, or will vbseo keep the old URL and redirect to the new one?

Thanks in advance

Dave.

I don't see any fundamental problems with this approach.

However, you might be interested in simply identifying the threads that are generating significant traffic and leaving them in the main forum for sometime, until you can compare against the ranking of other articles in the new sub-forums.

Yes, since the thread ID is not being changed when moving the thread, vBSEO will automatically redirect it to correct new URL.
