Are sub-domains bad for getting indexed in SEs ?

There should be fundamentally no difference between forum.yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. Perhaps there is some other factor.

Many sites use them and the PR flow is as good as any other page. It doesn't really matter, but I think it looks better and it's professional to have a subdomain for your board.
