Have you made any changes to your forums lately with regards to adding in new content, joining a popular link exchange programme or perhaps changing the format of your thread URLs?

Well content is added almost daily, but otherwise no.

I've heard people talk about google penalizing you, what does that mean?

Google (and other search engines) typically punish sites that employ unethical SEO practices. Penalties may manifest as decreased PageRank, decreased number of pages listed, or diminished keyword listings.

Fortunately, vBSEO follows Google's Webmaster Guidelines very closely, and uses the "best practices" recommended by Google.

Review the guidelines, and verify that your site isn't violating any of Google's policies.

    ---

Aside from that, bear in mind that many people experience Google rank fluctuations after installing vBSEO. As your old, non-SEO'd urls are replaced by properly formed vBSEO CRU's, you may notice an initial drop of your old urls, followed by a significant increase in your new url listings.

I think it may be a combination of Google having to re-index your old URLs and perhaps your website has been discovered as employing "unethical SEO practises" which has lead to your website being virtually unknown to Google. Over the next couple of weeks though Google should once again reindex your new content.

Yeah might be. I had some struggle with different domains. I've had 4 diffenret domains pointing at the site at the same moment. Maybe that had something to do with it?
