RSS Feeds good or bad for seo

Are rss feeds good or bad for seo?
Do they create repeat content or encourage more linking from other web sites?

There are a lot of people using. However, technically they represent duplicate or non-unique content.

The content can be differentiated a bit by taking a snippet rather than the whole page for example, and page formatting plays a small factor.

I think if the site display the feeds is already an authority site with the search engines, they may do a bit better with the feeds.

I'd like to hear feedback from our customers who use feeds, regarding how well you do with traffic.

We use a feed here for vbulletin.com, so that all of our members can quickly see the latest announcements from Jelsoft.

i use a feed for ebay auctions in my niche.

it makes me a ton of money.... i don't care if it doesn't get indexed

I use a lot of feeds to add content myself.

The question was more aimed the other way round, I use a hack that displays a page of feeds from my forum for others to use.

Just so you have more understanding of what I am babbling about.

By having that add on in place are you creating duplicate content or encouraging others to create incoming links to your forum.

As far as SERVING RSS files, i suggest only showing a clip/300 chars or so, and then a link for 'read more'.

full content RSS can easily lend your competitors to steal your content or end up on scrapper sites.

Either that or its taken this long for the sangria to wear off

How can you reduce the size of the rss feed?

Now I have my exclusive rights to jobs feeds, I don't want to loose these to other forums or come second place, even though it my forum they originate from.
