    Questions?

I have had vBSEO installed for acouple monthes now. I haven't had time to do much on my site sense the install.

I haven't noticed a real increase in hits. I am wondering if I have everything setup correctly.

Also, I wanted to setup my account in google site maps. It is asking for me to submit a site map. What link do I need to submit.

    I was going to submit:

I noticed in the check list:
I've uploaded my Sitemap to the highest-level directory to which I have access.
What do I do about the highest-level dir. I see that if i add & verify
    Code:
    http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/
and then add my sitemap I can only see errors. No stats?

    Thanks, dreck

    Hello,

since your sitemap contains URLs starting with http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/ only, it's ok to submit it as http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/sitemap_1.xml.gz.
In your google account you should:
    - add http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/ as a site to submit sitemaps and see sitemap fetching/parsing status
    - and add http://www.thisdarncar.com/ to perform google verification and see crawling stats for your site

Yes, you can add vBa CMPS URLs using the addon module included with vBSEO Sitemap Generator. You will have to submit sitemaps in the site root in this case, as described here: Sitemap in www root

So my vBSEO Sitemap Generator admin settings should be?:
    Code:
    Addon Generator Modules:
    adv_portal
    adv_portal_banners
    adv_portal_sponsors
    adv_portal_privacy
    adv_portal_cookies

My current .htaccess file looks like this:
    Code:
    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !vb/
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !vbseourl=
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ vb/vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&vbseorelpath=../&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !vb/
    RewriteRule ^(.*.php)$ vb/vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&vbseorelpath=../&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    <Files 403.shtml>
    order allow,deny
    allow from all
    </Files>

    deny from 80.191.197.49
    deny from 59.144.3.25
Do I replace this or just add
    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^(sitemap.*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ /forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
To the bottom of my current one?

    Thanks, dreck

No, there is only one addon module for vba cmps:
    Code:
    vbseo_sm_vba.php
You should add this right after "RewriteEngine on" line:
    Code:
    RewriteRule ^(sitemap.*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ /vb/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
and then suibmit sitemap as http://www.thisdarncar.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz

Gotcha, I may have figured that out if i had read:
Set the addon module names here, one name per line. The modules files are located in vbseo_sitemap/addons/ folder.
Ok, I ran sitemap generator and the file http://thisdarncar.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz isn't their yet.
    Did I do something wrong?

    Thanks, dreck

Have you added the entry in root .htaccess as instructed in Sitemap in www root ? (and replace "/forums/" with your vBulletin folder in rewrite rule).

Which sitemap URL do you submit? Make sure taht it's http://www.thisdarncar.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz, NOT http://thisdarncar.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz

Ok, is the www my problems?

Which should I have used when I add thisdarncar.com, with www or without?

I got an error when trying to submit the link, see attachment.

    Do I need to change
    Code:
    http://thisdarncar.com
    to
    Code:
    http://www.thisdarncar.com
    and then submit my sitemap?

I don't understand why this would be a problem?

    Thanks, dreck

Since www.thisdarncar.com and thisdarncar.com are different domains, you should submit the sitemap with corresponding domain name.
All your links have "www." prefix, and sitemap URL should have it too.

First, you should add your site in google wbemaster account as www.thisdarncar.com (with www) and then add the sitemap URLs like:
    Code:
    http://www.thisdarncar.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz
    http://www.thisdarncar.com/sitemap_2.xml.gz
    etc
