Question about duplicate content

I run a site that uses Wordpress for a front page, and a forum under a subdirectory. I typically make updates to the front page of the site, and then copy/paste them in a "Sites & Headlines" section of my site.

My question is -- am I hurting my SEO by reposting my front page news onto my forum, as this can be considered by Google to be duplicate content? Should I just perhaps provide a link to my front page article?

Perhaps a short summary to your homepage article along with a link would be a workable solution for you.
