    post_linkback.gif

Is not located in the templates of the forum.

Where is that gif located? How do I make it appear?

I'm guessing it's hard coded into a php file or xml file, no problem, let me know which one as well if you can. But I'd like to know how to make the image appear first.

I know what it looks like.

I don't know where it's found. on what page of the forum do you see it, as I've never seen it?

Ok well I'm not seeing it appear.

I'm wondering if it only appears dependant upon what we choose with the Number of post?

Remember how you could choose the Post number to be something of like 3 choices?

I have no idea, all I know is it doesn't appear in my templates anywhere when I do a search for it and in IE there is no broken image for it.

‘The Mummy’: Undead Again. - Legion of Angels Forums

Example thread with linkback and no image in front of the number.

Did we delete it intentionally? Lost???????

if the THREAD was link-backed to, it will not appear.

The linkback to a particular post, ie,
Legion of Angels Forums - View Single Post - ‘The Mummy’: Undead Again.
is where it would happen on the threaded view if i'm not mistaken.

since you enable showpost, and don't use the permalink, i'm not sure that it works that way.

Either way, I would HIGHLY suggest disabling showpost rewrite, using the "replace showpost with permalink" option, remove showpost from the sitemap, and robots.txt showpost.php out.

I'm not sure everything you're listing there but we do use permalink.

It's an image, it's the black and green globe.

you should use the "replace" option. you are showing both the showpost and the permalink now

We actually were for the longest time.

Since were off the main subject and the fact that the gif image just doesn't appear on my board for some reason, it must be some setting we chose.

Nonetheless I don't understand as I am not as knowledgeable as you most likely on this, why replacing show post with permalink is somehow more beneficial than having both.

I don't know why it's not showing... might have to put a ticket in and have a staff member take a deeper look.

Simply put, showpost is a worthless script.... right along the same lines as printthread and the archive. It's duplication of content.

    with vbseo, it's not needed.
    it should be disabled.

    to do this,
don't rewrite showpost urls (in vbseocp rewrite settings)
use the 'replace showpost with permalink' option
don't include showpost in the sitemap generator
and add showpost.php to your robots.txt

To continue, I also disabled rewrite of printthread, and robots printthread.php out, and disbaled the archive compeltely via vB options, and vbseo options set to 'use default vb settings', and then add /archive/ or /sitemap/ depending on what you had there into your robots.txt as well.

The goal is to keep the serps on the MAIN showthread page, not the single post, not the print version, not the archive version.
