Please Inspect a hack for SEO

hey there... one of my favourite hack is just released on Vb.org

and i just realized that it removes all forum name and description from "view source code" ... so my question is would that hack cause any anti seo activity ? since my forum is password protected i can not see it as an eye of googlebot...

if you check post number 20 in that thread, you will see a demo link(( he installed it on vb default skin, not his forum default skin)


Since you guys are seo expert, i would like to know, if that mod will drop my page or anything bad on seo..

This is VERY seo un-friendly. I would advise against using it.

bots do not load or parse javascript. They will never see anything but the default load screen.

Since this mod is needed at my forum.. i decided to use this for my users only not for GUEST...
and i guess whatever setting i set up for users doesnt have to do anything with SEO riht... ?

So if i leave my forum default for guest( bots ) and use this mod for users...

Would that be still any anti seo affect ?

Correct. Bots will never 'log in'. So, whatever is displayed to guests will also be displayed to bots.

I use this mod too and it is a for front for my website, is there nothing that can be done?

Do sitemaps help at all with this?

Sitemaps help a little bit, but any bot that vists your forum home will never leave out to your subforums that are not on the default loaded tab.

do not use this for guest... and it will not touch your SEO ranking at all.....

the developer uses Yahoos Ajax framework YUI to create the tab-navigation. The TabView control supports two modes of operation: create content via script and create content via markup. Here, the content is created from script which causes the SEO problems. But you could also create the content from the existing markup:
YUI Library Examples: TabView Control: Build from Markup
maybe it`s necessary to change the default markup a little bit but it should be possible.

But then you`ll also loose the flexibility to add content that is not in the markup as you can`t "inject" it via Script. Although I`m not sure about that, maybe even a combination of content from markup and content from script would be possible.

Also notice that you can extend the TabView control with browser history support so that it will remember the selected tab when you navigate through the forum and return to the forum home:

i guess yes... bcoz spider wont be able to see your content...

the best thing is.. apply this hack.. then view the page sourve of your forumhome you will understand...

How do you set this mod only for user and not for guests?
