If you're running a business and you can get your page on a pr 7 directory page, then I think it's worth it. I wouldn't pay 300 a year for a pr 6 listing. For a not-for-profit site you should just submit your site, make sure you do this every 3 weeks because they delete the whole backlog every 3 weeks. And before you submit, your site should already have good traffic and a lot of good content and NO banners, otherwise they will never add it for free.

I've been trying to get in for 2 years without success so don't get your hopes up too high.

Has anyone paid the fee and felt that it contributed to boosting their PR, indexing, crawling priority, traffic, etc?

    Yes, I'm wondering the same.

Anyone have a good PR checker?

I think it's because I use banners and they don't like dutch sites or something

I did end up paying for this and was included in the directory in Mar. I've seen no change in anything. In fact, if you want to see what's going on with yahoo for me at the moment: Another Drop in Yahoo Organic Traffic

    BIG waste of money.

I would take the time and money and work on getting a good back link system set up. That seems to be better than the yahoo directory.
