    Password protected folder

I have no clue where this goes but I will try here...

I am attempting to use .htpasswd to protect certain directories on my Prosper-Living site. However, when I use the .htaccess and .htpasswd it gives me a 404 Page Note Found error.

Now I did the exact same thing on my VerbalDouche site and it worked like a charm.

So when researching the cause I was told by my host that it is in the .htaccess 301 redirect which is causing me fits. Seeing as I have vbSEO on both domains and the .htaccess and 301 redirects are the same how can this be?

Any one have input on 301 redirects and how they affect .htpasswd from working?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

please check entry #20 in troubleshooting.txt:
    20) I have a problem accessing vB admincp: 404 error is displayed or page is redirected to forums homepage

If you have restricted access to your admincp folder using .htaccess (Auth directives), please check
your apache configuration: having "ErrorDocument 401 401.shtml" directive in httpd.conf requires that
"401.shtml" file exists. You should create one if it doesn't to solve the problem.

Thanks for this. I almost replied back that I had seen it and was setup correctly but I was not setup correctly. Now everything is working great! Thanks again...
