Question Our Host Can't Run Vbseo... Need Quick Feedback

    Hello -
We own and manage a long time Board called GRINGOTALK. We are located here --> GRINGOTALK ....and after purchasing vbseo we ran into a problem. Our Host www.atlantic.net does not have the capabilities to run the software therefore we are forced to go thru the hassle and expense of either moving our Board or get a refund from vbseo. The agent from our Host says 'we can't install the software because the risks are to great us to handle the vbseo script.'

The bottom line, they won't install the script to run vbseo on our Board.

Our Questions: What highly regarded Hosting companies out there do you guys recommend? Frankly, we are a little disappointed at this point.... we hired a highly qualified Board Tech to install the vbseo highly regarded software, however, now we are directly involved and our Host Atlantic.net can't help us at all. I suppose we are in error as we did not think about calling our Host first to see if the software might be a problem. That said, what Host do you guys recommend that can run the vbseo software and provide us with 24/7 verbal phone support from a Human Being for $15.00 a month?

Admins: We hope we posted this in the appropriate Forum, if we did not, our apologies.

    Very Kind Regards

I'm not sure what "risks" they are referring to. In any event, we will provide you with a refund if you choose to stay with your existing hosting provider.

I have heard positive reports on various forums about pair.com. They only provide 12 hour daily support, with 24/7 email support, and might be a little bit over $15/day for their shared accounts.

Note: as per support ticket, current host refused to install ISAPI_Rewrite module (Windows/IIS server).

Mr. Ward and Mr. Ignatiuk -

Thank you very much for responding to my post.

I am checking out Pair.com right now. Are there other Hosts/Servers out there that is top notch in your opinions? I don't mind spending a little more to get the best and 24/7 verbal phone support is important to me. I hate typing out support tickets where that time could be better used making me money working on a property.

    Thanks again!
    R-

I don't know any shared hosting providers with 24/7 telephone support off-hand. I know that fastservers.net offers excellent support via the telephone - but they provided dedicated servers, probably not the level of expense you are looking for right now... unless of course you partnered up with a few other forum admins to split the cost to share the server.

Currently i am using hostgator for my forum. I'm on shared hosting with dedicated IP which is not expensive. When my space is almost out, i'll look into there server's.

I'm happy with there service and support. I've had great results using there live support. Technical Support for HostGator Web Hosting

    www.hostgator.com

VBSEO works great with them. Currently hostgator is going to upgrade all there server's to php5 and mysql 5 in which i'm waiting for to happen on the server i'm on. (Don't know if i'll need a issue fixed)

With hostgator, if you are on a shared hosting account, the mass emails you can send out is 500 in a hour. Break this and you're account will be suspended. Happend to me once, but i got it restored. Now if you go with a server, the amount of emails you send out is unlimited. They do have a policy for this, i didn't read.

I'm sure other members here have webhosts that fit there budget and provide a great service. Just be patient and wait for more feedback from them.

I use asmallorange.com and i'm not sure if they provide phone support either, but you won't need it anyway, their service is top notch, and their email support replies back within 15 minutes every time so far.

    Question Questions -

    Ok, Pair.com and HostGator.com...

    Thanks for that...

Now a question for the veterans and experts -- who is the best out there?

    We mean THE BEST?

We don't want any more problems with our Board and we're willing to pay a little more, but with that, we want a professional Host with a mature, professional attitude (no kids), with 24/7 phone support, and we expect excellent security measures and quick response via phone or email.

    Please advise.

Very kind regards and we thank you!

    Hi Ray,

Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet is the place to ask/research this question.

We can only tell you of the places we have experienced. Which of those is 'best' is going to be based on personal experience, rather than a knowledge of the entire market.

i'd stay away from hostgator. do a search here on it, and you will see problems with shutting sites off.

asmallorange is good, as is pair

    Alrighty then..

I have had good experiences with asmallorange. Their shared hosting eventually caused me to go to vps, which they didn't provide at the time.

My VPS was with Dedicated Servers | Managed Dedicated Servers | Web Hosting | VPS | Liquid Web, now my dedicated server is with them.

Excellent support from liquidweb... okay support from ASO's L1 guys, great support from the CEO.. but that was 4 years ago, they may have better L1 techs now.

If you are looking for shared hosting i will also recommend asmallorange.com
I used their service more than a year and i never had any problems. Their support is perfect.

I can recommend ahosting.biz for managed dedicated servers. Their support is great also and they have pretty good prices

First sign that the hosting company you are with is not a good choice for mission critical hosting: The CEO is handling support requests.

i have a friend who likes pair very much.

hg only shuts down sites for tos and cpu hogs (i.e. enough to slow down the shared server). they give the option of cpu violators to be on a server with only 3 other clients, at NO extra charge, which is more than i would do for the cheapo plans some folks are trying to run their largish sites on...i'm not a hg rep or anything, but i do have my dedicated with them and have been impressed with the owner's level of honesty in dealing with client issues, so i wanted to chime in with my experience.
